Man, has it been hectic. I keep wishing for more hours in the day! Right now, I’ve been going a little crazy getting ready for the 2009 Super Billiards Expo in Valley Forge. We will be having 2 booths at the show - Mezz USA and Billiard Life. If you’re going, we will be at Booth 99 & 100. I’m really excited because I think we have a lot of great new stuff but the preparation has been brutal. On top of that, I am still sick from Turningstone and I have a few of my good friends visiting prior to the show. Sarah Rousey has been in town and it has been really great hanging out with her. She is awesome. And just yesterday, Darren Appleton and Marcus Chamat came to visit. So we have been hanging out at Skyline Billiards…. Fun!

Anyway, I hope to see you at the Expo…
Couldn’t sleep the night before but I was looking forward to the Predator Tourney. It was going to be at Comet Billiards in Parsippany, New Jersey. I haven’t been there for a while but I remember it was such a nice spacious room. And the spicy sausage was awesome! Anyway, when I got there…. the room was filled with people. I couldn’t believe how busy it was. There was a total of 77 people who played in the tourney. It was such a great turnout. However, I found the tables played kind of funny. The cloth is a bit loose therefore the cue ball rolled real slow but the rails were bouncy. Hmmmm… I’m thinking to myself I might be in for a challenge to adjust!
My first match was with Al Lapena. He’s a great player and I was ready to play him. I started out strong… He won the toss, broke, came up dry, I had a tricky one ball, made it and positioned for the 2 9 combination. Next I broke, made something and ran out to the 6 9 combination. Next rack, I ran to the 7 ball over cut it and Al missed the 7 ball but made the 9 ball by accident. 2 -1 me. I kept my composure winning the next rack then I made a couple of errors, the next thing you know the match was done and I lost 7 - 3. Ugh… frustrating!
After waiting for 3 hours, I won my next 2 matches playing against Jay Chiu and Michelle Li. I didn’t play my best since I was struggling a bit with the table but good enough to move along. What was really nice at Comet was that they had the Accustat TV table. The set up was nice and there were plenty of good matches going on. The only downfall was that the lighting exerted so much hot air that the room was pretty warm… I was wearing a long sleeve turtleneck top… what a mistake that was!
I got knocked out my Lionel Rivera who is a decent player. I have a winning record against him but because I had no cue ball control and I let my frustrations overcome me, he won. Lionel played great and I just could not execute anything. I think I was too focused on how the tables were playing and not focused on my match to help me win… I need to learn to overcome situations like this and just play… Now I have something new to practice… Hopefully, I will learn from this experience and help me in the future!
